What we offer
Every engagement is tailored, but most work falls into a few core areas. These services can stand alone or be combined, depending on your goals.
Research & Insight
This is the core of our work and where Patchwork Research brings the most value. We partner with teams who want to deeply understand their customers, including their needs, behaviors, motivations, and the context behind their decisions.
We lead research end-to-end, from shaping the right questions and study design to moderating conversations and synthesizing what’s learned into clear, actionable insight. Being hands-on throughout the process allows us to listen closely, build trust with participants, and uncover meaning beyond surface-level responses.
Methods are selected based on what you’re trying to learn, not the other way around. Approaches are often combined to create a richer, more complete understanding that teams can act on with confidence.
Common research approaches include:
Focus groups
In-depth interviews
Home, store, and virtual ethnographies
UX, usability, and prototype testing
Shop-alongs and dine-alongs
Diary studies and video blogging
Customer journey mapping
Discussion boards and online communities
Persona development
Workshops and ideation sessions
Surveys
Workshops & Collaboration
Sometimes teams don’t need more research; they need space to make sense of what they already know. We design and facilitate workshops and collaborative working sessions that help teams align around insight, explore opportunities, and move ideas forward together.
Sessions can be conducted with internal teams, or they can include customers through co-creation and ideation exercises. All workshops are grounded in real customer insight and designed to be practical, inclusive, and outcome-focused, with clear next steps rather than just sticky notes.
Research Strategy & Advisory
For teams building, evolving, or navigating a research practice, we provide strategic and advisory support tailored to your goals and context. This work is often most valuable when teams need a thought partner to help clarify priorities, shape an approach, or connect research to bigger product and business decisions.
This support can be ad hoc or more ongoing and collaborative. It can include research planning and roadmap prioritization, advising on study design and resourcing, or guidance on how to make research more effective across teams. The focus is on clarity and ensuring research has real, lasting impact.
